Seva Mandir hosts a field course for the students of the Department of International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric), Faculty of Landscape and society (LANDSAM) of the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) every alternate year. The course is a part of the Bachelor of Science in International Environment and Development Studies (B-IEDS).

The primary objective is to make the international students understand the landscape-level development issues across themes of health, gender, poverty, environment and livelihoods, and political structure through an interdisciplinary lens. The context is of India and Rajasthan in general, and of the Udaipur region in particular. The objective is to also make students know development processes, challenges at the grassroots level and the role of civil society organizations. The interaction with communities and development practitioners aids in building the connection between development theories and insights from the field.

Till now, Seva Mandir has hosted four batches of students, with an average of 25 students in each course. This year, due to COVID 19, the course structure and content have been adapted as a remote & online field course. The classes conducted from India are being attended by 31 students in Norway with a classroom facilitator.
