Position: Project Associate - Nutrition

Seva Mandir works in one of the poorest areas in India, where small children are often left unattended or in the care of young siblings. They lack adequate care, nutrition, security, safety and a stimulating environment in the home and outside. Seva Mandir implements an integrated programme to reach and improve children's nutritional health and wellbeing through home-based care, institutional-based care and WASH. The role of Nutrition expert is to ensure that nutrition relevant deliverables with a special focus on reducing malnutrition through proposed activities in Seva Mandir's work area.

 

Responsibilities:
- Planning and conducting nutrition training for staff and Anganwadi workers
- Successful implementation and management of Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) camps and Positive Deviance (PD) hearth sessions
- Planning and purchasing nutrition related material and ensuring its supply in project areas
- Planning, management and development of nutrition gardens
- Planning, management and conduction of community events such as, Anganwadi Day celebration, Nutrition Day celebration etc.
- Collecting, recording, analysing and following up on data taken from all related project activities, and providing feedback on the results
- Documenting, report writing and preparation of presentations on all nutrition related activities
- Conducting random checks of nutrition information and data collected by the field team
- Attending workshops and conferences relevant to the project and preparing a summarised reports
- Creating detailed monthly case studies and preparing nutrition articles for Seva Mandir's internal and external newsletters
- Supporting all team members as and when required
- Making regular visits to field locations
- Working proactively

Skills & Interests:
- Experience of working in community development
- The ability to communicate easily and effectively with a wide range of people and organisations
- The ability to produce high-quality reports and materials
- The ability to grasp and assimilate new information quickly
- The ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team, and to give leadership and direction to others
- The ability to handle large sets of data effectively
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Required Qualifications:
- Post-graduate degree in the field of Nutrition or related area
- 3-4 years of work in the development sector
- Excellent English writing skills
