Inaugurating Financial Digital Literacy for Self-Help Groups

Yesterday, Seva Mandir and Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd inaugurated a new project on Financial Digital Literacy for Self-Help Groups.

Many women are opening up bank accounts in their own names. However, society is becoming ever more digitised, requiring people to have their own smart phone, which these women tend not to have. Even when they do have phones, they are often not able to understand how to use it or, in some cases, are held back by illiteracy.

This project will help to empower women to have financial independence whilst becoming digitally-literate.

Seva Mandir will train women who are leaders in their communities to become ‘Digital Sakhis', who will train other women on digital and financial literacy, such as how to access government schemes, manage their money, operate their bank accounts, and much more.

This project will ensure that women from rural and tribal communities are not left behind in this digital age, and that they have the right tools and knowledge to become financially independent.

The event also celebrated  International Women's Day in Kegra village with over 200 women from rural and tribal communities. The spectacular and talented performers from Udaipur's Shilpgram performed traditional Rajasthani songs and dances, including some spine tingling acrobatics!
